Dish Washer

Age you started working in hospitality:

16

Your inspiration to begin working in hospitality:

I started as a dishwasher through a friend, but I used to cook with my Grandmother
and had never thought of it as a career, it didn't take long for me to re-discover my
love of food and cooking.

My hospitality mentor:

Shawn Whalen CMC cultivated my love of cooking and serving, he mentored me and
encouraged me to compete and always do my best.

What are your favourite aspects of your job?

I have now transitioned out of the kitchen, but my favourite aspect is hosting guests,
whether hosting them for a meal or hosting them in our hotel, I want every guest to
leave feeling special.

What has inspired you to continue your career path in hospitality?

Meeting people, working with diverse teams and the satisfaction of being a home
away from home for people when visiting our city.

Advice for students interested in a career in hospitality:

Hospitality keeps you busy, but if you love people and are inspired to make them feel
special; hospitality may be the perfect place for you.
