First hospitality job:

My first position was as a laundry attendant at the Chimo Hotel in Ottawa.

Age you started working in hospitality:

14 years old.

Your inspiration to begin working in hospitality:

My inspiration was my family as all the women in my family held positions in our
industry to this day.

​

My hospitality mentor:

Linda Jamieson, Barry Sheen, Frank Lawlor. Linda has been my mentor for 37 years
and holds the highest esteem in our industry to this day. She taught me, and
countless others to work hard and stay humble and to listen.

What are your favourite aspects of your job?

Meeting guests every day and building relationships with your guests, colleagues and
your team. To ensure everyone's hotel experience is the very best every time they
stay with us. They will always remember their experiences if you take the time to listen
to their needs and welcome them!

What has inspired you to continue your career path in hospitality?

I am inspired by learning every day from my colleagues, meeting new guests every
day and always working with an amazing team. It is always a team effort!

Advice for students interested in a career in hospitality:

Work hard, listen and learn every day from each experience and always have
respect and stay humble. It is an amazing career and so rewarding in all aspects!
