Your inspiration to begin working in hospitality:

I had friends who worked at the restaurant and it seemed like they were having a great time - I made the switch from retail and never looked back.

My hospitality mentor:

I had great learning experiences with many managers throughout my career. Some of the chains I worked for, in particular, provided great training and mentorships. I think this is something large corporations do really well.

What are your favourite aspects of your job?

Memorable interactions with people! If you look for them, there are opportunities in every moment to delight, connect, and learn from each other.

What has inspired you to continue your career path in hospitality?

The diversity of work opportunities in this industry is what has kept me going. I can follow my shifting passions, all within the context of hospitality and providing memorable experiences to visitors.

Advice for students interested in a career in hospitality:

I can't think of a more fun field in which to work. Sometimes things are challenging, like any job, but the people keep you going and it's so rewarding in the end. You can make an amazing life-long career in this industry.
