Jennifer Luke

First hospitality job:

I would have to say it was my internship at the Delta Toronto East while in High school
working in the Office of the General Manager. Next was a server role at the Hilton
Garden Inn Ajax in colleague while attending George Brown for Hotel Management.

Age you started working in hospitality:

17 (Internship) and 18 formal first role.

Your inspiration to begin working in hospitality:

It was in Careers Class in Highschool when a Personality test aligned me in one of my
Top 3 Jobs - Hotel Manager (the other two were Massage Therapist and Funeral
Director)

My hospitality mentor:

I have had many mentors through my career but working for and alongside Dorothy
Hatt has been a real great experience for the better half of the last 10 years.

What are your favourite aspects of your job?

Being able to build authentic connections with companies and clients by allowing my
personality to really shine. My organization thrives on our uniqueness and impeccable
service and authenticity is one of our core Values.

What has inspired you to continue your career path in hospitality?

What keeps me here is the human connection. There’s something deeply fulfilling

about making someone’s day better, whether through a warm welcome, a well-
executed event, or seeing a team member who may be new to their role to reach their

potential.

Advice for students interested in a career in hospitality:

Find your niche and passion and execute on it to the fullest. Network yourself and
build connections any way possible. Your reputation travels faster than you do!
