Hospitality.

Connecting the hospitality industry with the youth of today.

Established in 1977, the Ontario Hostelry Institute (OHI) began as a joint venture of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation, and private industry. It was integral in establishing curriculum and programs for the province’s colleges and university hospitality and culinary programs in order to provide the foundation for professionally trained and skilled labour for the industry. To continue the legacy, which has provided the hospitality industry with support for more than 44 years, the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA) became official the steward of OHI.

Today, the Ontario Hostelry Institute is, OHI – We Are Hospitality. Our focus is hospitality workforce development through career outreach initiatives to students in grades six to eight, high schools and post-secondary schools; bringing together people interested in pursuing careers in hospitality with our hotel and food service businesses; and, building strong leadership best practices within the industry.  OHI will accomplish this by working in collaboration with our industry partners, hospitality businesses and schools.
